5 TIPS ON FINDING THE PERFECT BLAZER FOR FALL
What I am Wearing:
Blazer: SHEIN; Body suit: ZARA; Trousers: ZARA

Blazers are definitely a timeless trend everyone needs in their wardrobe. They are versatile, classy, effortless, and chic. They are also easy to wear with jeans, dresses, skirts, and of course, white trainers. I know that finding the perfect blazer can be difficult and often frustrating, so today I am sharing 6 tips on how to find the perfect blazer for your fall wardrobe.

1. SAVE MONEY & BUY A GOOD QUALITY BLAZER

You know that saying that goes “quality is better than quantity?”… yeah, I literally live by that.

As I have aged into adulthood, I have realized that spending more money on my clothes is not a crime. I want pieces in my wardrobe that will last me years, not a couple months. Buying a $10 blazer may be a good deal, but is the quality up to par? Does it look cheap? Will the color fade after 1 wash? By all means, catch them sales sis, BUT don’t let a sale trap you into buying low quality pieces. It doesn’t make sense to spend money on a new blazer every season when you can own a good one that will last you 5 + years.

Also, I do not believe you need to spend $100 to get a nice blazer. The one I am wearing, in the picture above, only cost me $30, but I spent time doing my research before purchasing it, which leads me to my next tip…

2. LOOK AT THE DESCRIPTION BOX/ REVIEW SECTION BEFORE MAKING A PURCHASE

Now I know I said earlier that it is important to invest in a good quality blazer, but I want you to understand that good quality does not always mean high price. You can still find a high quality blazer for less than $50.

The key to finding a blazer at this price is reading the description box. The description box tells you exactly what the blazer is made out of, and it gives you an idea of how the blazer will look/feel in person. You can also look at the blazers you have in your wardrobe and compare that material to the one you want to purchase. You just have to be willing to take your time and do your research. Don’t just buy something because it’s “cute” or looks good on the model. Remember these brands want your coin at the end of the day, so don’t let them fool you!

Additionally, those $100-$200 blazers are not always the best quality. I spend the same amount of time looking at the material of a $100 blazer as I do a $30 blazer. I even keep items in my cart for a week or more before making a purchase. Furthermore, I ask God what he thinks about an item I want to purchase. This may sound crazy to some people, but I know God cares about everything in my life including what I wear and how I spend my money. Asking the Holy spirit about an item will save you time, stress, and money, trust me!

3. THRIFT YOUR BLAZERS

So I understand that everyone may not have the coins to buy a $100, $50 or even $30 blazer, especially when you need 3-4 different kinds to complete your wardrobe. Thrifting is a great way to buy good quality blazers at an affordable price. I personally have never thrifted before, but I have friends who have, and they absolutely love it. I also heard that you can find name brand items if you thrift in higher-end cities/neighborhoods like Buckhead (for my Atlanta family). So if you are on a tight-budget but still want quality, check out your local thrift store.

4. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR BLAZERS

Now this may seem obvious to some people, but you have to treat your blazers (and the rest of your clothes) with TLC. You should not be throwing $200, $100, or even a $30 blazers into the washer and dryer and expect it to last you 2-3 years. Naww baby… it don’t work like that.

The key to long-lasting blazers (and clothes) is hand-washing. If you grew up in a West African household, like me, then you probably learned all about hand-washing as a child. Hand-washing is honestly the best way to wash all your clothes, but definitely your blazers. I never wash my blazers in a washer or dryer or waste money on dry-cleaning because I know I can hand-wash them at home. BTW, I will be coming out with a post about how to make your clothes last longer, so stayed tuned for that!

5. BUY YOUR BLAZERS OVERSIZED

Over-sized blazers are the G.O.A.T okay! These type of blazers instantly elevate your look, and they are extremely versatile. You can wear an oversized blazer with a belt, tight-fitted dress, or even where it as a dress depending on how oversized you get it. Oversized blazers are also great for my bigger booty sisters who want to cover up the “behind” for a more modest look.

6. BUY BLAZERS IN COLORS THAT CAN BE WORN WITH ANYTHING

Like I mentioned in my 10 Wardrobe Essentials that never go out of style post, it is important to get your blazers in neutral colors that can be worn with multiple clothing items first. Once you have all your solid colors, you can then experiment with other colors. I love wearing earthy tones for the fall, so I suggest buying blazers in different shades of brown, khaki, and black if you love warm tones too. Also, remember that neutral colors make you look more expensive and put together. The more neutrals you have, the more poppin you look!

I hope you found this post helpful! Let me know what your favorite fall wardrobe essential is and if you will be wearing blazers this fall. I hope you have a blessed day family!
