THE ULTIMATE WEDDING GUEST OUTFIT

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend one of my friend’s weddings. Weddings are one of my favorite events because everyone always comes in looking gooddttt and the vibes are always lit (if Nigerians are there of course :)). Anyways, I received a lot of questions in my Instagram DM’s about my fit, so today I am sharing all the details on this ultimate wedding guest outfit.

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE OUTFIT

I’ve known the groom for a long time and one of the things he used to always say is “when I get married, my wedding will be a fashion show.” With that being said, I knew I wanted to look sophisticated, sexy, and classy, but I did not want to settle for a dress. I wanted something that would make me stand out and give “fashion show” vibes, so I decided to go with a suit.

Now I know a lot of women don’t think about wearing a suit to a wedding, but I think it makes you look powerful and sophisticated if you wear it correctly.

OUTFIT DETAILS

The suit I am wearing is from Missguided (currently on sale). I actually bought it 2 months prior to the wedding because that’s just the type of person I am. I always buy my outfits months in advance because I want to make sure the idea I have in my head, actually looks good in person. Here is a quick tip: Don’t be a last-minute event shopper. Always buy your outfits and accessories ahead of time.

Now, one of the things I love about this suit and about suits, in general, is the versatility. I have so many outfit ideas with the trousers that I can not wait to execute (if you are my friend reading this, please invite me to more events lol). Suits give your wardrobe the best cost per wear value because you can wear them in multiple ways. For example, I wore this suit to a wedding a couple of years ago and have worn the trousers and the blazer in so many different ways since then.

My bag is from Shein (sold out; try this one) and my jewelry is from BLDXMonique (use code Joyce20 to save 20% at check out).

CLOSING THOUGHTS

If you read my birthday post from last year, then you probably remember me talking about mindful shopping. Weddings are one of those events that make you want to go all-out and buy an extravagant outfit, but the problem is after the event, that $100, $200, $300, or $400 outfit, just ends up collecting dust in your closet. I’ve made this mistake before and have chosen not to do it again… unless I know I will wear it MULTIPLE times.

Now we know there are obvious exceptions like if you are an asoebi woman, the mother of the bride or groom, or if you just have the money to buy expensive outfits all the time (DO YOU BOO)! I have just chosen to be more mindful and build a wardrobe that is versatile and makes me happy.

I hope you enjoyed my ultimate wedding guest outfit. Let me know if you would wear something like this to a wedding. Have a blessed day!
