5 INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO ELEVATE YOUR LOOK

Now that we are officially into spring and summer is right around the corner, I thought I would share with you 5 inexpensive ways to elevate your look/style. Many people think that having an elevated look means wearing a designer or spending hundreds of dollars, but in reality, it’s more about how you wear an item than about the item itself. I can wear designer clothes all day and still NOT look classy if I don’t implement some of the tips I mentioned below. So, here are 5 inexpensive ways you can elevate your look.

1. WEAR GOOD QUALITY JEWELRY

Over the years, I’ve noticed that jewelry is an area a lot of women skip out on or do not invest in when it comes to style. Adding good quality jewelry to an outfit will always elevate your look. I personally love wearing minimalistic jewelry for my everyday looks; I don’t like having too much on my body in the spring/ summer so a minimalistic look always works best for me. As I have aged, I have also made a conscious decision to invest in good quality jewelry. I tend to wear items that are made of sterling silver or stainless steel base metal, which are fairly inexpensive (compared to real gold) and will last you 3 plus years with great care. I also wear fast fashion jewelry, and I believe it can last a long time if you take proper care of it and buy it from the right place.

2. WORK ON YOUR POSTURE

A good outfit with a bad posture is an easy way to downgrade your look. This is a simple tip that most people do not think about, but can actually make a difference in the long run. I recommend spending some time looking in the mirror and practicing your posture. Also try sitting up when you are at a desk, driving in your car, and even while texting. Doing simple things like this can actually make you look more put together. Not to mention, there are many other benefits to having a good posture, so just work on it daily.

3. ADD AN OVERSIZED PIECE TO YOUR OUTFIT

Believe it or not, wearing super tight clothing can actually downgrade your style and look very unflattering on your body (depending on the item and material of course). It’s okay to loosen things up a bit (pun intended). The key to wearing oversized clothing without drowning in it is finding BALANCE. For example, if your bottoms are tight, try wearing a looser shirt or add an oversized jacket. If your top is tight-fitted try wearing a looser bottom, like mom jeans.

Of course, this tip isn’t universal for all clothing items/outfits. I still wear tight shirts with skinny bottoms and body-hugging dresses, but I may also throw on an oversized cardigan or blazer to balance it out. Here is an example of an outfit that does a great job with wearing something tight fitted and loose. Try this tip out and see if it works for you!

4. WEAR CLOTHES THAT FIT/FLATTER YOUR BODY

Since we are talking about super tight clothing let me also add that when you are shopping, make sure you buy clothes that actually fit your body. Again, I love figure-hugging dresses, jeans, etc, but I always make sure to shop these items in my size. Stop trying to squeeze into a size 6 knowing good and darn well they are a size 10. Wearing clothes that do not fit or flatter you is the quickest way to degrade your look. Always shop your size and find clothing items that flatter your shape. By the way, I have a FREE wardrobe guide called “How To Build The Perfect Wardrobe.” In this guide, I talk about many things including the importance of knowing how to style your shape. If you want to learn more about this and other ways you can build the perfect wardrobe, check out my FREE guide here.

5. BE CONFIDENT

Last but not least, if you want to elevate your look, you have to learn how to be confident in it. Never underestimate the power that confidence has in making you look and feel better. To be more confident you first have to understand who you are in Christ. When you understand your authority, heirship, and purpose, you will automatically become more confident. Secondly, learn how to love yourself. You can’t expect people to love you and see your confidence when you don’t exude it yourself. Love the personality God gave you… love your body… love your hair… love your smile… learn to love those things you are often insecure about. Once you have done all this, buy a poppin outfit, work the heck out of it, and take some pics for the gram. Remember, when you feel confident, you look confident.

These are the 5 inexpensive way you can elevate your look. Let me know what tip you plan to implement into your spring/summer looks. I hope you have a blessed day!
