MY TOP 5 LIP GLOSS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FALL

Do you remember back in the early 2000’s when lip gloss was as Lil mama said, “poppin?” I don’t know about you, but when I was a child, I always had a tube of lip gloss with me. I loved my glosses and did not play about collecting them.

As the years have gone by, lip gloss has unfortunately become an unpopular lip product. This isn’t a surprise to me because brands are coming out with lipsticks that are smoother, long-lasting, and have pigmentation. Lip gloss, on the other hand, are often sticky and lack color.

Fast-forward to 2020, make-up brands are slowly beginning to notice the need for good quality lip glosses. They are also diversifying their shades to include colors that are friendly for women of color. All this change has me super excited because, like I said earlier, I’ve always loved lip gloss and never stopped wearing them when they were not “popular.” I am also excited about the formulas that these brands are coming up with because a good formula = lip gloss that is moisturizing and long-lasting.

Today, I am sharing my Top 5 Lip Gloss/Chapstick Recommendations for the Fall. These glosses glide effortlessly on the lips and keep them moisturized (we all know how important moisturized lips are in the fall/winter).

If you are looking to get back into the lip gloss game and are looking for a gloss that will keep your lips poppin for longer, then keep on reading!

GLOSS BOMB UNIVERSAL LIP LUMINIZER BY FENTY BEAUTY

So I know I’m late to the Fenty gloss bandwagon, but I must say that Rihanna’s “Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer” in the shade Hot Chocolate, is a must-have for my lip gloss lovers. Hot chocolate by Fenty does a great job adding color and gloss to your lips. To get the prefect brown shade, you see in all my pictures, I use a brown lip liner (you can purchase one HERE) with the lip gloss. A dark brown liner + Fenty lip gloss = the perfect brown lip with a little bit of shine.

NYX BUTTER LIP GLOSS

The NYX Butter Lip Gloss in the shade Madeline is an oldie but goodie in my gloss collection. This gloss is great for anyone who wants the look of a lipstick, but the smoothness and shine of a lip gloss. This gloss literally glides on your lips like butter, no joke. Not to mention, the lip formula is incredible for the price. Furthermore, I love how friendly this gloss is for WOC. If you pair this with a brown lip liner, you will have the perfect nude lip. The butter gloss is also great for layering on top of matte lipsticks.

ELF LIP LACQUER GLOSS

This lip gloss is for the ladies who want a simple everyday gloss. I love this gloss because of the formula. It’s not sticky and is easy to apply. I like to wear this gloss while running errands, after I get out the shower, and right before bed. The only negative thing about this gloss is if you want a super glossy look, you will have to add multiple layers or put a glossier lip gloss on top of it. For everyday quarantine looks, this gloss is perfect and cheap!

MAYBELLINE LIFTER LIP GLOSS

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw this lip gloss in my “shopping with Chekwa” segment on my Instagram stories. Much like the other glosses I mentioned above, this lip gloss is not sticky and glides smoothly on the lips. It also gives you fuller looking lips and is super long lasting. Not to mention, this gloss has Hyaluronic acid, which is good for your skin. These glosses are also great dupes for the Fenty lip gloss if you are on a budget. My two favorite Maybelline lifter shades, at the moment, are “Stone” and “Moon.” Moon is an every day gloss with a little bit of glitter and stone is a soft nude colored lip gloss (make sure you wear a dark lip liner with this one too).

VASELINE LIP THERAPY

Last but not least we have the Vaseline Lip Therapy. I actually use the chapstick version, but the one I listed below is literally the same thing. This chapstick is great for dry lips and is definitely a skin care essential. I like to wear this while getting ready in the morning and right before bed with the Elf lip gloss. I also like to use this as a base when wearing sticker lip glosses. This chapstick is also non- greasy and will keep your lips moisturized throughout the night!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what lip gloss you are excited about purchasing!
